On New Year’s Day we told you that Amitabh Bachchan has been voted NDTV’s Urban Indian of the Year through a nationwide poll and now reports are that his son Abhishek Bachchan has been voted the ‘Entertainer of the Year’ for 2005.
Abhishek has got the accolade by CNN-IBN news channel after a national poll.
Most Bollywood experts and business tycoons have predicted that Abhishek will be the flavour of 2006.
With many of his mega starrers ready for release in 2006, Abhishek is ready to fly high and reach the top rung of the superstar ladder.
CNN-IBN channel, in a nationwide survey-poll, named him the ‘Entertainer of the Year’ with fans asking more and more of him in 2006.
Well groomed by his star parents, Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan , Abhishek responded to the accolade with typical Bachchan humility. “I am thrilled to be given this fabulous title,” he said.
“When I look back at 2005 and see (what) my dad has accomplished in this year, I am humbled. He has worked hard, created one success after another and made television history with his KBC II show. If he can work so hard and with such focus at 63, what have I done?” Abhishek said modestly.
“To me the world is divided into two kinds of people. One is Amitabh Bachchan and all others are those who are not Amitabh Bachchan. He is king and stands in a genre of his own. His example and this honour makes me determined to work harder, become a better human being and most important, a better son,” Abhishek added.
Abhishek’s biggest releases of 2006 will be Umrao Jaan , Dhoom 2 and Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna .
So the biggest question of the New Year is – Is Abhishek poised to become the superstar of 2006?
