Former numero uno Bollywood actress Madhuri Dixit has begun shooting for her comeback film Aaja Naachley – the directorial debut of ace cinematographer Anil Mehta .
The shooting, which began from Monday, is taking place at FilmCity, Mumbai. It is a start to finish schedule till March this year, Madhuri’s secretary Rakeshnath said.
Madhuri is facing the camera after nearly four years post marriage as well as motherhood, since Sanjay Leela Bhansali ‘s Devdaas in which she had played Chandramukhi.
‘Aaja Naachley’ also stars Akshaye Khanna , Ranvir Shorey , Kunal Kapoor , Konkana Sen Sharma and Divya Dutta among others.
Madhuri, who is based in Denver, US along with her husband Dr Sriram Nene, plays the role of a theatre actress in the film.
On the first day of the shoot at Yashraj Studios, producer Yash Chopra welcomed her personally.
Madhuri, despite a few nerves, said she still knows how to act adding that after her first day of filming in her comeback movie, she has eased back into things.
“I was nervous during the first take, but gradually everything was fine,” Madhuri said. “Acting is like swimming. You never forget it.”
Madhuri’s return to the screen has been made easier by Chopra, who had a play area built for her children near the set.
“He said, ‘You act, we’ll take care of your kids,’” Madhuri said.
“I am glad I am working with such caring people, ” Madhuri added.
Madhuri said she left her children with her grandmother during scenes shot at night.
“It was a strange feeling. Since the time I have become a mother. I have never been away from my kids,” Madhuri said.
